Celebrating Michael
This website has been created on behalf of Michael Wilson’s family by The Pickler Law Firm as a way to unite all who were deeply impacted by Michael through music, community, family, friendships, and Disney.
As we celebrate the life of this wonderful man, we invite you to join us at Houston High School in Germantown, Tennessee, on September 12, 2021.
A gathering will be held at 2:00 pm in the Pickler Band Centre followed by the Celebration of Life in the Pickler Performing Arts Centre at 3:00 pm to share in our love and admiration of Michael.
Michael’s passions were music and education, making his career as a band director a natural fit. He met the love of his life, Jan Long Wilson, while they were in college and both members of the band. His son, Kaiden, chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and play French horn, and he had the privilege of learning to play French horn from his talented dad. Eden’s obsession with video games comes courtesy of her father’s influence and encouragement as they spent hours playing together in their gaming bubble.
Michael was proud to be a University of Florida graduate and enjoyed cheering for his Gators. His love of music followed throughout his life, from school to marching in drum corps and into his career. His happiest summers were marching Southwind and Phantom Regiment. Michael and Jan developed a love for Disney and enjoyed traveling with their kids to their Happy Place, Disney World.

Michael's Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 12th at Houston High School in Germantown, Tennessee.
A gathering will be held in the Pickler Band Centre at 2:00 pm followed by the Celebration of Life in the Pickler Performing Arts Centre at 3:00 pm.
We kindly ask that you register for the event below so that we can be adequately prepared with seating and overflow options.
Donate to Michael's Family
The Pickler Law Firm has set up an account through PayPal for donations to Michael’s family. Michael lost his life insurance because of his inability to work and he was ineligible to have independent coverage due to his health. The medical bills for his care and treatments spanning over 5 ½ years are significant. Michael dreamed of his kids fulfilling their educational goals and he and Jan established college funds to plan for that future. Donations made in Michael’s name will go toward helping the family’s financial hardships, providing better financial stability, and ensuring that Michael’s dream for his children is realized. We invite you to give whatever you can to help support Jan, Kaiden, and Eden.

Michael's Leukemia Journey
Michael was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) in November 2015, for which he received a bone marrow transplant in March 2016. After 14 months, ALL returned in May 2017 where he underwent a second transplant in July 2017. In May 2019, the cancer relapsed as Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), requiring a third transplant in August 2019. The cancer returned a fourth time in April 2021 for which he was treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center. His fourth transplant occurred on July 23, 2021, one of the few people to be approved for a fourth time. He passed away with Jan at his side and surrounded by love on August 26, 2021.
